Ok, now I’m officially terrified. Here’s the propaganda coming out of Eastern Germany. Stamps proclaiming these bulbs as the almighty solution when they’re actually the problem.
It may be too late. These bulbs are in our worldwide consciousness as being good for the environment even though they’re all made in China, the US closed all its ight bulb factories, they’re considered toxic and hazardous, have plastic packaging, cause additional Mercury and coal production, no warning labels and have to be taken some place special to recycle them.
And we’re being convinced they’re ‘Green’.
Please educate yourself about the negative global effects these have on the planet from job losses to becoming toxic, hazardous waste once they break or burn out.
We have a choice. We can not blindly accept that changing to these light bulbs is the right thing to do. Please look into the additional Mercury production that the hundreds of million of these will fuel. How much is a hundred million? Well only 200 million Frisbees were ever sold since the 50’s if that helps put it on perspective.
They are Hazardous Waste once they burn out and will contaminate the water supply according to our own EPA:
PLEASE boycott these until every single town either has a pickup program or there is a Toxic Waste facility in all towns that don’t have Ikea or Home Depot (those are two places that will recycle them, if you or your neighbors bother to double bag them in plastic and drive them over…if they’re not broken…if they’re broken, it’s your problem).
